What Buyers See
Your buyer taps the link, browses your products, picks what they want and gets a quotation PDF. No app, account or password.
Knowing the buyer's side helps you sell better. You can tell a buyer exactly where to tap, and you know what they see when a link has expired or asks for verification.
The catalog opens in the phone's normal browser, such as Chrome or Safari. It works the same on a computer, so an office purchase team can use it too.
The buyer's journey
Opening the link
| Link type | What happens |
|---|---|
| Normal link | The catalog opens straight away |
| Verification on | Buyer enters an email or mobile from your buyer list. 3 wrong tries lock the device for 1 hour |
| All Buyers link | Buyer enters name and mobile or email, and is added to your buyers |
| Expired link | Buyer sees your contact details and a WhatsApp button to ask for a new link |
When verification is on
The buyer sees your business name and the message "This catalog is protected. Please enter your email address or mobile number to continue." They type it in the Email or Mobile Number box.
If it matches a buyer in your list, the catalog opens. If not, they see "This email is not registered for this catalog." (or mobile) and how many tries are left.
After 3 wrong tries, the screen says "Access locked for 1 hour" and shows a countdown. Each failed try also shows your business name and mobile under Contact seller, so the buyer can reach you.
Tell the buyer which number or email you saved for them. Most failed tries come from a buyer typing an office email when you saved their personal one.
When it is an All Buyers link
The buyer sees "Please enter your details to view this catalog." They fill in Your name and either Mobile number or Email address. At least one of the two is needed.
If that mobile or email is already in your buyer list, the existing buyer is used. Otherwise a new buyer is added for you. Either way, their visits and enquiries appear under their name.
When the link has expired
The buyer sees "This catalog has expired", the date and time it expired, and "Please contact the seller for a new link." No products are shown.
The page shows your phone, email and address. The Contact on WhatsApp button opens a chat with you and a ready message: "Hello {your business}, my catalog link has expired. Can you share a new one?" A deactivated link shows the same page.
Browsing
- Your logo, name, banner and note at the top, with a countdown to expiry.
- Search, category filters, and Grid View or Table View.
- Photo gallery, SKU, description and price on each product.
- Your About Us, Contact Us and other pages in the menu.
The countdown reads Link expires in, so the buyer knows how long the prices are open. A short countdown often makes buyers decide faster.
Grid View shows large photo cards, best for designs like sarees, jewellery or décor. Table View shows rows with Image, Name, SKU, Description, Material, Variants, Qty, Price and Action. It suits buyers who order by code, like auto parts or pharma.
The menu pages (Home, Products, About Us, Contact Us, Privacy Policy, Terms) come from your business settings. Fill them in once, and every link shows them. See Settings.
What the buyer does not see
- Products that are not in this link, or products you have made inactive.
- Prices you hid with the link's Price Visibility or the product's own setting.
- Other buyers, other links, or your internal notes about them.
Choosing products
- Tap + Add. For variants, tap Customize, pick options and tap Add.
- The Selected Product panel shows items, quantities, GST, discounts and the final total.
If you turned on Allow buyer to enter quantity, each product has a Qty box. Otherwise each item is added once, and you agree the quantity later.
A bottom bar shows how many products are selected and the Get Quotation → button. The buyer can open the panel anytime to change or delete a line.
The selection panel
Each product with one set of options is one line, called a combination. Adding the same shirt in Red / XL and Blue / M makes two lines. A product with no options shows as Standard. The panel header reads, for example, "2 combination(s) added · Total ₹…". When nothing is selected it shows "No products added".
At the bottom, the panel shows Subtotal (Taxable), GST Total and the Final total. This is the same total that goes on the quotation PDF.
Package links
If you shared Packages instead of products, each package shows a Starting from price and a Configure & Get Quote button. The buyer picks options step by step, then sends the quotation request.
How the price is worked out
The buyer sees the price build up in the product popup, line by line: Base price, each chosen option as +₹, the link discount, GST (x%) and Quantity × n.
- Base price: the product's MRP, or its formula price.
- + options: each chosen option adds its fixed amount, or its percentage of the base price.
- − link discount: the link's Discount (%) comes off before GST.
- + GST: added at the product's GST rate. For a GST-inclusive product, GST is shown as included and nothing is added.
- × quantity: gives the line total.
Example
| Step | Amount |
|---|---|
| Base price | ₹1,000 |
| Size XL (+ ₹50) | ₹1,050 |
| Link discount 10% | ₹945 |
| GST 5% | ₹992.25 per piece |
| Quantity × 10 | ₹9,922.50 |
If the bill crosses one of the link's Conditional Bill Discount Slabs, the panel also shows an Extra discount line before the Final total.
Because every step is visible, buyers rarely ask "how did you get this rate?". It also means your option prices and GST rates must be correct. Check them in Variants & Options and Formula Pricing.
Getting the quotation
- The buyer taps Get Quotation → and Confirm.
- A PDF quotation is created with your details, the items, GST and totals.
- The buyer sends it to you by WhatsApp or Mail, or downloads or copies it.
- The enquiry appears in your inbox at once.
Before anything is saved, a Confirm Quotation box asks the buyer to confirm. After Confirm, they see "Quotation Generated Successfully!" and a Connect to Manufacturer (Seller) section.
How the buyer sends it to you
| Button | What happens |
|---|---|
| Opens WhatsApp with the quotation text ready to send to your number | |
| Opens a Gmail message to your email with the quotation filled in | |
| Download PDF | Saves the quotation PDF on the buyer's phone or computer |
| Copy Quotation Content | Copies the text, to paste into any chat or email |
| Back to Catalog | Returns to the catalog to keep browsing |
The enquiry is saved in your Enquiries as soon as the buyer confirms. You get it even if the buyer never taps WhatsApp or Mail.
With the paid WhatsApp Message Sending add-on, the quotation PDF is also sent automatically on WhatsApp to you and to the buyer. See Pricing & Add-ons.
The quotation is a price proposal, not an order. Payment, delivery and returns are agreed between you and your buyer, outside ShowCato.
Showcase links
A PDF-style catalog for browsing, titled Showcase Catalog. It shows a contact card with your phone, email, city, product count and last update date. Products are grouped by collection, with their SKU, price and available options. The buyer can Download PDF or Refresh Catalog, but cannot order.
The page introduces itself as "Explore our selected catalog in a clean, traditional PDF-style presentation." At the bottom it says "This is a static catalog presentation. Product details may change without notice."
Use Showcase when the buyer wants a file to keep or forward, such as an architect showing tiles to a client. Use Interactive when you want them to pick items and send a quotation.
- Browse only, grouped by collection
- Download PDF of the catalog
- No selection, no quotation
- Products only, no packages
- Search, filters, Grid and Table View
- Add products, options and quantities
- Quotation PDF, saved as an enquiry
- Products or packages
Protecting your photos
In the interactive catalog, right-click, image dragging and common copy and save shortcuts are blocked, so buyers cannot casually save your photos. A screenshot cannot be blocked by any web page.
These blocks work in the buyer's browser and stop casual copying. They are not full protection. The Showcase view does not block them, since its purpose is a downloadable catalog.
Test it yourself
- Make a link for yourself as a buyer, with a short expiry.
- Open it on your phone in a private or incognito window.
- Add two products, one with options, and check the totals.
- Stop at Confirm, or confirm once to see the enquiry arrive in your inbox.
- Deactivate the test link when you are done.
Common buyer questions
- "Do I need to download an app?" No. The link opens in the phone's browser.
- "The link says expired." Ask them to tap Contact on WhatsApp. Then extend or reactivate the link.
- "It says my number is not registered." Check the number saved in their buyer details, including the country code.
- "Have I placed the order?" No. They sent a quotation. You confirm the order with them directly.
